Meet The Team
My name is Lauren and I am part of FARE's (Food Allergy Research and Education) teen TAG team. This is one of our projects and I am the leader of it. I am 15 years old and allergic to dairy, egg, and kiwi. I am part of my school's volunteering club and it is my favorite thing to do. I hope to someday be in a career in which I help others in some way. Having food allergies is definitely difficult, but they have made me who I am today. They have taught me so much and I have made a lot of friends with food allergies too. I love being a part of the TAG team because it helps me meet more!

My allergies include dairy, eggs, peanuts, tree nuts, shellfish, kiwi, cumin, and seeds (sesame, chia, and poppy). I really enjoy cooking and baking, including making my own recipes and experimenting with different ingredients. My other hobbies include painting, reading, and spending time with my dog. My brother Adam is 18 years old and is allergic to dairy and eggs.
Hi! My name is Lila and I am 14 years old. I am currently in 8th grade at an all-girls Catholic school. I am allergic to dairy and my older brother Nathan is allergic to dairy, eggs, wheat, peanuts, beef, and mustard. I love being a part of the FARE tag team and I hope that I will be able to help lots of people in my lifetime and right now. My hobbies include dancing, art, volleyball, and hanging out with my family and friends (including my two Shih Tzu puppies, Fluffy and Fuzzworth). I also love to cook and bake! One day I hope to have a career that helps/works with people and animals, as I love making new friends and helping those in need.
Hi! My name is Rylee Christian and I’m 16 years old. I'm a sophomore near Sacramento California. I was diagnosed with food allergies when I was born, and I’m currently allergic to dairy, eggs, peanuts, and tree nuts. I have always loved cooking and baking since I was young, it gave me a connection to my friends without food allergies that I was longing for. Birthday parties and sleepovers were always so hard when I was younger, and having the same safe food made me feel included. Which is why I have a love for food and recipes!
Madeleine (Maddie) Waldie is an 18-year-old high school senior from Sunnyvale, CA. She is a member of FARE’s Teen Advisory Group (TAG), a Black Belt in Tang Soo Do, and lead programmer and drive team member on her school's FRC robotics team. Maddie has worked as a High School Embedded Software Intern at NVIDIA, and as a Math Department Intern at her high school. She loves participating in community outreach that empowers girls to pursue STEM careers and has helped to mentor an FLL team. As an infant, Maddie was diagnosed with a milk allergy. At age three, she was diagnosed with oral allergy syndrome, and allergies to peanuts, tree nuts, and tomatoes. During her journey, she has successfully completed milk desensitization and has seen positive improvements from Sublingual Immunotherapy (SLIT) for her environmental allergies. After multiple life-threatening reactions during her Junior year in high school, she started oral immunotherapy (OIT) in combination with Xolair, which has been a life-changing experience. Next year, as a student at Santa Clara University, Maddie hopes to be an advocate for herself and others, educating about the challenges of living with food allergies, being a change maker in her community, and helping the food allergic to find their voice.

Hi! My name is Cadence and I am a 17-year-old junior who lives in Boston, Massachusetts. I am so excited to have a platform to help others with food allergies! I am allergic to eggs and nuts, and I also avoid sunflower seeds, peas, and coconut. Aside from my allergies, I love to dance and choreograph, cook delicious egg and nut-free food, play field hockey, and am the head of my school’s feminism club! My favorite subjects in school are math and science, and I hope to possibly pursue a career in the medical realm one day.
My name is Lindsay Lopez and I’m 16 years old. I’m from North Carolina and am allergic to peanuts, tree nuts, milk, eggs, fish, shellfish and mustard, and have been since age 1. I also have had binge eating disorder since age 15. I have always had a huge love of food, despite many challenges, and believe that everyone should have the same opportunities to try the same things. Over the years, I’ve tried foods that normally contain all the things I’m allergic to, but with substitute ingredients, and I hope that with these recipes many people who also have allergies will be able to as well! Besides eating of course, in my free time, I enjoy playing volleyball and piano, and my main passion is psychology, which I hope to continue after high school.

Hi, my name is Jacqueline See-Tho. I am 14 years old and a rising sophomore in Palo Alto, California. I am Filipino, Malaysian-Chinese, and German. I have lived with food allergies to eggs, milk, and all nuts my entire life. Growing up in an area that is booming with research regarding allergies has made me very lucky. About three years ago, I was fortunate enough to become part of a clinical trial, a multi-food OIT program that used Xolair. I did this with my older brother who also has severe food allergies. As I continue to undergo treatment, my food world has opened up and I now feel more comfortable with the food that I encounter. I love to cook, bake, and test new recipes. Learning how to make good food with allergies is essential, and I know some tips and tricks that I’m excited to share with everyone. Some of my other passions include traveling, dance (I do ballet and contemporary), singing (I’m in my school choir), and acting. In my free time, I like to listen to music, play with my dog (he’s a Goldendoodle), read, and write. This is my first year being on FARE’s Teen Advisory Group, and I’m really excited to be working alongside so many supportive, dedicated, and hardworking individuals. I hope to provide some helpful resources as you experience life with allergies! I’m looking forward to being a part of this special community!
